Method

  1. Heat grill to medium high. Cut a deep cross in the top of each fig then ease the top apart like a flower. Sit the figs in a baking dish and drop a small piece of the butter into the centre of each fruit. Drizzle the honey over the figs, then sprinkle with the nuts and spice.
  2. Grill for 5 mins until figs are softened and the honey and butter make a sticky sauce in the bottom of the dish. Serve warm, with dollops of mascarpone or yogurt.

btw Elias, I think it'd be lovely with a little condensed milk instead of honey.

This amazing dessert literally takes 10 mins, and it looks and tastes fantastic! I've been making it every few days now that figs are in season and so cheap!

Made this last night. I am generally not a lover of desserts, but this one was sooooo good, not too sweet. Will make it again.

Elias - you could try maple syrup?

Haven't tried this recipe yet, but will do if I can find a substitute for the honey. I'm allergic to any sort of honey. Any substitution ideas?
