This cheesy pasty is a delicious alternative to the regular Cornish pasty and is quick and easy to make.

  • 450g / 1lb packet puff pastry
  • 2 medium potatoes diced small
  • 1 medium onion
  • 220g / 8oz Cheddar Cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 1 Tablespoon chopped parsley
  • Salt and pepper to taste


    1. Peel and chop the potato into small chunks and the onion finely chopped and grate the cheese. Finely chop the parsley.
    2. Mix all the ingredients together well in a bowl.
    3. Divide the pastry in 4 and roll each piece into a round about 15 cm (6 inches) in diameter.
    4. Put a quarter of the cheese mixture on each one, dampen the edge with a little water, then fold over and crimp the edges.
    5. Lay the pasties on a floured baking sheet and brush them with milk or beaten egg.
    6. Bake them for 45 minutes.

These are not pasties! These are slices. come on BBC you should know the difference between a pasty and a slice!!!!

I doubled the recipe and the pasty's were yummy! I cooked them at 160 C and they came out all golden :)

I should have know this recipe wouldn't be good as it didn't even state the temperature the oven should be at. There was way too much filling for 4 pasties. The filling came out of mine. Ok you could just decrease the amount of filling but I am going to try to find a decent recipe instead.

As there is no oven temperature guide in this recipe I'm attempting to cook them at 160 C in a fan oven. Edit: It worked! Second edit: cooking them now for my grandsons school lunch box. I'm using short crust pastry; 175g white spelt flour, 75g unsalted butter and 50g cheddar cheese. I like cheesy pastry!
