  • 1 red chilli, deseeded and sliced


  1. Heat the oil in a large wok, then add the kale and a couple tbsp water. Season, then stir-fry for 5-8 mins, adding the garlic and chilli for the final 2 mins. When the kale is tender and a vibrant green, remove from the heat and serve.

This is great. I added some sautéed onions and some small chunks of carrot to make it into a super healthy main meal with a poached egg on top. This is the easiest way I've found to cook kale and it was perfect. Highly recommended.

Very first time cooking curly kale!(shocking eh?). Absolutely loved the recipe, cooked as above but finished with off with a little lemon juice and just a touch of butter! Served with a oven roasted skinless breast of chicken with more garlic, and served it with roasted parsnips and new potatoes(just incase the kale was a right off...which it wasn't). An amazing vegetable as far as nutrients go! Will definitely use it again.

I think I didn't stir fry the kale for long enough, or I had old kale, because it was very fibery and tough. Decided I didn't like the taste of kale much either, so won't be trying this again.

That's a kale problem, not a doneness problem. Try cutting out the kale spines.

Have made something similar. Omit the chilli, add chopped spring onions and crispy bacon pieces. Yum!
