  • 300g cream cheese
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp chopped dill
  • generous pinch of black pepper
  • 4 large flour tortillas

  • 350g smoked salmon
  • serve with extra dill and rocket leaves


  1. Mix the cream cheese with the lemon juice, chopped dill and plenty of black pepper. Spread over 4 large flour tortillas and cover with the smoked salmon. Roll up like a Swiss roll, trim off the ends and discard. Wrap tightly in cling film, twisting the ends firmly to enclose. Place in the fridge until you are ready to use. To serve, take a sharp knife and slice on the diagonal. Serve with extra dill and rocket leaves.

Easy recipe that always goes down well with a crowd! I've made these many times now and having read the comments, have adapted the recipe accordingly. Yesterday, I made a batch for our Church picnic. I omitted the lemon juice as I find that that makes the mixture too sloppy and substituted the zest of one lemon. I only had 200g of smoked salmon so chopped it up quite small to go round the 4 tortillas. I added lots of chopped fresh rocket leaves to the mix and a drop of chili. I had chives in the garden so used these in preference to the dill. Absolutely delicious and I agree with others that you need to roll tightly and leave in the fridge at least overnight (mine had 24 hours in the fridge before cutting). A sharp knife is essential (but the mistakes and trimmings are the cook's perks!).

Looked great, very easy to assemble. Easy to prepare ahead and then all that's left to do is slice up nearer the time. Will definitely make again.

Made these for a large gathering at the week end. I'm still not sure how something so simple could have gone so wrong but it did. They were horrible, so awful that I wouldn't serve them. I made them the night before, wrapped each one individually in cling film and stored in the fridge to serve the next day. Despite looking like the illustrated picture the wraps (middle of the road price wise) tasted like raw pastry and were sticky. I dismantled them and saved the salmon for something else. Disappointing especially after the positive feed back.

Made this recipe for a party 2 weeks ago. So yummy and it was wiped clean. Everyone loved it and thought I had bought it! =) I used chives instead of dill and added some wasabi to the cream cheese. I made a vegetarian version with roasted peppers and mushrooms. Easy to make too!

This a great recipe for party food - so easy. I found it worked best if I spread the cream cheese and salmon only two thirds of the way up the tortilla. Then when I rolled it, the filling didn't squidge out at the top.

Very impressed with these! And so were my guests! They were easy to make and tasted great even after being cling filmed In the fridge overnight. Excellent for a buffet party, and they looked really cool! Yum.
