My own Toor Dal recipe

  • 100g Toor Dal per person
  • 1/2 Tsp Turmeric
  • 1/2 Tsp Coriander
  • 1 Tsp Cumin Powder
  • 1/2 Tsp Cumin Seeds (optional)
  • Onion - Chopped
  • 2 Garlic Cloves - Crushed
  • Olive Oil - 1 Tbsp


  1. Fry onion and garlic in the oil for a couple of mins then add cumin, turmeric and coriander. Fry for another minute.

  2. Add lentils to the fried mixture, stir, add water (4cm above lentils), cover and cook for 45 mins. Use a potato masher to break it up a bit.
