An easy to make flavoursome pork and beef meatloaf

  • 1/2 kg beef mince
  • 1/2 kg pork mince
  • 2 slices of fresh bread made into crumbs
  • 1 packet of dry mushroom simmer soup mix (or try mushroom, tomato, mixed veg, french onion or anything that takes your fancy!)
  • 3 beef stock cubes
  • 1 tsp garlic powder or 3 cloves of fresh garlic crushed
  • 1 tsp dried mixed herbs
  • 1 tsp ground black pepper (or to taste)
  • 1 large egg


    1. Add all of the ingredients to a large mixing bowl
    2. Mix thoroughly to evenly distribute all the seasonings
    3. Pack the mixture into a loaf tin
    4. Bake at gas mark 6 for about an hour or until the meat is cooked.
    5. Serve with mash and a choice of veggies.

This was really lovely! I added in a handful of sage and onion stuffing mix and a handful of chopped dried apricots, but omitted the soup. I also found one stock cube (used a melt pot) sufficient. I poured off the liquid left at the end of cooking and used it to make a gravy to serve with the loaf. Thumbs up from the whole family!
