Heart warming soup like granny used to make, perfect for those wintery afternoons.

  • 8oz red lentils
  • 1.5 litres of water
  • 1 leek, sliced
  • 2 carrots, peeled & grated
  • 1 large potato, peeled & chopped into medium pieces
  • 2 ham stock cubes


    1. Boil lentils and take off residue
    2. Add leek & carrots & simmer for half an hour
    3. Add potato & simmer for another half hour
    4. Add stock cubes & season to serve

this is a wonderful soup and so straight forward to make, I did slow cook a ham hock though and shred the meat into it, tastes just like gran used to make. If you have a chicken recipe, I'd love try it. thanks for sharing this one.

Had to try this recipe..the soup was lovely my Husband really liked it will be making lot's more during the winter month's

Lovely, heart warming soup! Just the kind of lentil soup recipe I was looking for. I used 3 Knorr ham stock cubes and also added an extra 100ml of water towards the end to thin it a little.
