Ingredients

  • 4/5 Hot cross buns
  • 250 ml whole milk
  • 250ml double cream
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1tsp castor sugar
  • 2tbsp demerara sugar

Method

  • STEP 1
    Preheat oven 180c, gas mark 4
  • STEP 2
    Grease an ovenproof dish about 20cmx25cmx5cm
  • STEP 3
    Slice buns in halve and spread one side with butter, place in the dish covering the bottom
  • STEP 4
    Beat the milk, eggs, cream and castor sugar and pour over the buns. Leave to soak for 30mins.
  • STEP 5
    Sprinkle over the demerara sugar and bake for about 40mins. Serve hot
