  • 25g butter
  • 2 chicken portions
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 garlic clove, crushed
  • 2 bacon rashers, rinded and chopped
  • 25g plain flour
  • 75ml chicken stock
  • 150ml red wine
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1/2 bouqeut gourni sachet


  1. Preheat the slow cooker on high.

  2. Heat the butter in a frying pan, and brown the chicken pieces on all sides. Transfer to the low cooker.

  3. Add the onion, garlic and bacon to the pan and fry gently until transparent.

  4. Stir in the flour and cook for 1 minute, then stir in the stock and wine, and bring to the boil. Add the bay leaves and bouquet garni, and season with salt and pepper. Transfer to the slow cooker.

  5. Cook on low for 6-8 hours.

  6. Discard the bay leaf and bouquet garni before serving.
