No fuss breakfast bars

A simple breakfast bar recipe using just four ingredients which can be added to to suit your own tastes. This version uses chocolate and cranberries and is a cheaper alternative to the super-sweet store bought bars.

Ingredients

  • 100g rolled oats
  • 100g self raising flour
  • 3 tablespoons butter/margarine
  • 40g sugar

Optional extras

  • 100g rolled oats
  • 100g self raising flour
  • 3 tablespoons butter/margarine
  • 40g sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
  • Large handful dried cranberries

Method

  • STEP 1
    Mix together the dry ingredients
  • STEP 2
    Mix in the softened butter - this is easier using the same action as the creaming method
  • STEP 3
    Push down into the bottom of an ovenproof dish - if too sticky, coat fingertips with a little flour first
  • STEP 4
    Bake for 15-20 minutes
  • STEP 5
    Wait until fully cooled then cut and serve
