Ginger cake

  • 2 average size mugs self raising flour
  • 1 mug sugar
  • 1/2 tsp bicarbonate of soda
  • 2 tsp ground ginger
  • 4oz butter melted
  • 1 mug milk
  • 1 & 1/2 tbl golden syrup
  • 1 egg


  1. Sive all dry ingredients in to a bowl

  2. Add butter, syrup and milk in to dry ingredients and mix in

  3. Add in the egg and beat well

  4. Spoon in to a lined and greased 9" square tin

  5. Cook at 170 for 1/2 to 3/4 hour

  6. Basic icing sugar glaze optional
