Easy and tasty Beef Bourguignon recipe

  • 2tbsp oil
  • 25g Butter
  • 225g Lean streaky bacon - rinded and freshly chopped
  • 2 Garlic cloves - crushed
  • 1Kg Lean stewing steak - cubed
  • 2tbsp plain flour
  • 300ml Burgundy red wine
  • 18 whole baby onions/shallots
  • 2tbsp dried mixed herbs
  • salt and freshly ground back pepper


  1. Heat the oil and butter in a large frying pan and cook the bacon and Garlic for about 5 minutes stirring occassionally

  2. Add the steak and cook, stir occasionally until lightly browned on all sides. Stir in the flour then gradually stir in the red wine.

  3. Add the herbs, Onions and seasoning bring to a simmer. Transfer to the slow cooker

  4. Cook in the slow cooker on a low heat for 7 - 10hrs. Adjust seasoning to taste before serving. Serve with new potatoes and a green vegetable
