- 6g Oil
- 160g Onion (Diced)
- 1g Chilli Puree
- 30g Garlic Puree
- 90g Tomato Puree
- 41g Chilli Con Carne Spice Mix
- 90g Water (1)
- 500g Minced Beef
- 12g Fresh Coriander
- 4g Fresh Oregano
- 120g Water (2)
- 280g Chopped Tomatoes
- 360g Red Kidney Beans
- 100g Red Pepper (Diced)
- 130g Cornstarch Mix (40g Cornstarch/90g Water)
Chilli Con Carne Spice Mix (Makes 205g/5 batches)
- 6g Oil
- 160g Onion (Diced)
- 1g Chilli Puree
- 30g Garlic Puree
- 90g Tomato Puree
- 41g Chilli Con Carne Spice Mix
- 90g Water (1)
- 500g Minced Beef
- 12g Fresh Coriander
- 4g Fresh Oregano
- 120g Water (2)
- 280g Chopped Tomatoes
- 360g Red Kidney Beans
- 100g Red Pepper (Diced)
- 130g Cornstarch Mix (40g Cornstarch/90g Water)
- 75g Brown Sugar
- 50g Salt
- 60g Cumin
- 5g Paprika
- 15g Chilli Powder
- Combine and mix well
Method
- STEP 1Brown the minced beef in a little oil (about 5 minutes), and put aside.
- STEP 2Heat the oil (6g) in a large saucepan. Fry the onions over a medium heat until softened. About 5 minutes.
- STEP 3Add the chilli, garlic and tomato puree to the pan. Mix and cook for 1 minute.
- STEP 4Add the chilli con carne spice mix and water (1) to the pan. Mix and cook for 2 minutes.
- STEP 5Add the browned minced beef to the pan. Mix and cook for 1 minute.
- STEP 6Take the pan off the heat. Add water (2), fresh coriander, oregano and chopped tomatoes. Mix, return to the heat and cook for a further minute.
- STEP 7Add the kidney beans and red pepper. Mix and cook for 1 minute.
- STEP 8Add the cornstarch mix. Heat for 1 minute while stirring.
- STEP 9Turn the heat down to a medium low heat. Cook gently for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally and adding water till you reach the desired consistency.
