PREHEAT oven to gas 8. Dust baking tray with flour.
Sift flour, salt, baking powder and seasonings into a bowl. Rub in butter until resembles fine breadcrumbs.
Stir in the grated cheese, then add in the milk and mix to form a soft dough. Lightly knead on a floured surface and roll to about 2cm thick. Take 6.8mm cutter and cut out scones (you would normally get 6) re-rolling the trimmings.
Place on the baking tray and brush with egg and top with a little cheese. Bake for approx 12mins until golden and well risen.
