    One of the most useful of spices for both sweet and savoury


  1. Preheat the oven to fan 180C/conventional 200C/gas 6 and grease four 150ml dariole moulds or heatproof teacups with the butter – this will help you turn out the puddings and add a touch more flavour.

  2. Mash the banana in a mixing bowl, using a fork. Beat in the eggs and vanilla extract, then stir in the breadcrumbs, sugar, milk and sultanas.

  3. Spoon the mixture evenly into the moulds or teacups. Arrange them in a small roasting dish, and then pour in enough hot water to reach about halfway up their sides.

  4. Bake uncovered, for 35 minutes, until set. Cool for a few moments, then turn out onto small serving plates. Drizzle a tablespoon of maple syrup over each pudding, then finish with a teaspoon of crème fraîche and a sprinkle of freshly grated nutmeg, if you like.

I specifically made an account so that I could comment on this recipe. Very disappointing. Texture was gelatinous (not in a good way), it took far longer than the time stated and didn't taste of anything in particular. Quite frankly a waste of time and money! Would not recommend.

Positives: low-fat and very quick to make (I just blitzed all the ingredients in a food processor). Negatives: appearance and texture very disappointing. The mashed banana made it grey, rather than the golden brown shown in the photo above. Too much milk also - I baked them for 35 mins per the recipe, but they came out soggy and dense in the middle. I would definitely *not* recommend this for a dinner party, as the recipe suggests!

Very underwhelming. It looked flacid and tasted...ok... Although I suppose at least it's low fat and quick if you need a pudding fix! ;o)

I did this as a whole pudding as i didnt have any individual ones. It was still very tastey and i would definitely make it again.
