  • 100g bar good quality plain chocolate
  • 50ml milk
  • 200ml double cream
  • 100g strawberries (or other seasonal fruit) sliced

    Method

    • step 1

      Melt the chocolate in a bowl over a pan of simmering water.
    • step 2

      Heat the milk until boiling, then whisk in melted chocolate. Leave to cool.
    • step 3

      Whip 150ml of cream until soft peak stage, then fold into cooled chocolate.
    • step 4

      Reserve 6 strawberries for decoration, place remainder into 6 serving ramekins or small bowls.
    • step 5

      Evenly spoon in the chocolate mixture.
    • step 6

      Whip remaining cream and use to decorate the the top of the desert with the sliced strawberries.

    Great chocolate mousse but instead of serving 6 it only just made 4 but other than that it's a great mousse.

    Really impressed by this. I have been craving chocolate mousse, but most of the supermarket brands contain gelatine so not suitable for vegetarians, and other recipes seemed too much fuss just to have some mousse. This was super easy and made a light creamy mousse.
