First time I have made muffins and turned out great :)

Don't waste your time and money, these are awful! They don't even look like muffins, there is no taste to them. I won't make them again.

Awful should have read comments first its actually tastes like a yorkshire pudding cake if there was no such thing before, well this is it with some chocolate chips! I think next time ill be looking elsewhere for new ideas

I read all the comments and upped the sugar to 80g caster + 20g brown. I also added a good sprinkling of salt because of the numerous "bland" comments - I thought that might do the trick. The outcome is fine (kids love them) but I think that there must be better recipes out there..

Absolutely atrocious recipe. Should have read the reviews before wasting ingredients. Doughy and inedible.

Sugar to flour ratio is not right...cakes are too heavy and not sweet enough. Wouldn't make them again.

Simply dreadful! I should have realised when making the mix they were never going to work. Rock cakes/scone/dumpling. Huge disappointment to 8 year old daughter. Look elsewhere

These are just fab! I've made them a few times now and my family and friends just love them! I tend to skip the vanilla though as I've always found the flavour overpowering (even in the tiniest quantity!) but that's just me. Thank you to whoever posted this recipe!

Tried this recipe, dunno what I did wrong in the preparation but..........
They don't look like or taste like what I expected. Can I have some advice please.

Saw the comments on this recipe after I'd made them, and was worried about how they were going to taste! But they were delicious, I don't like my muffins overly sweet and these were perfect :) Will definitely be making these again.

Made these for the first time & they were so tasty! I added some chopped glaze cherries & they went down a treat!

For an even more Sweet/chocolaty taste i would definitely substitute 25g of flour and add 30-40g of Choco powder..... other than that the recipe is ok(ish)

I thought the ratio of flour to sugar was a bit light so I changed it to 100g sugar but used a mix of soft brown and muscavado! Lovely light texture and plenty of taste.
Many thankx.

these muffins are AMAZING,i saw that some people didnt like how bland they were, so i used 100g of white chocolate and 100g of milk chocolate cut into really small chunks, used 1 1/2 teaspoons of vanilla essense and used 150g of sugar, and THEY ARE AMAZING, taste shop bought, i strongly reccommend you change the recipe for this!!!!

I'm rubbish at baking but these came out perfect. They lacked a sweet taste though. I'll make them again but add more sugar and maybe some white Choc chips as my daughter hates plain chocolate.

Very easy to make and the resulting texture and moistness was good. However, they are extremely bland. If I were to make them again I would definitely increase the amount of sugar. I think however I'll be looking for another recipe.

Shame I didn't read the reviews first, I would of not wasted my time, ingredients and electricity!!! Followed the recipe, muffins came out looking like scones and tasted like pancakes! The best part was the chocolate chips which had sank!! I do not recommend this recipe!! :(
