Spicy yogurt chicken

Spicy yogurt chicken

Try a spicy twist with your chicken - this dish works well hot or cold - it's also a good source of iron

Method

  1. With a sharp knife, make a few slashes in each drumstick. Mix the remaining ingredients in a bowl, season to taste. Add the drumsticks, rubbing the mixture well into the meat. If you have time, cover and chill for 30 mins.
  2. Remove the drumsticks from the marinade, shaking off the excess. Cook them on the barbecue for 20-25 mins, turning occasionally, until cooked through.

Cooking indoors

Heat oven to 200C/fan 180C/gas 6 and roast the drumsticks for 30 mins until chicken is cooked through.

So simple but tastes fantastic. I used on chicken breast skewers and it worked really well.

I used diced chicken breast for kebabs but didn't have any turmeric so couldn't get the golden colour. Also, only had seeds and not the ground spices so had to bash them in the pestle and mortar and think they needed a bit more grinding. Was still tasty and very tender though.

Used skinned chicken thighs and baked it in the oven. Served with homemade potato salad and it went down a treat. Will definitely try this recipe on the BBQ once the weather permits.
