  1. Put the oil into a food bag and add the tuna steaks. Rub well together and leave for 30 mins while you make the relish. Peel the cucumber, halve lengthways and scoop out the seeds. Chop the flesh into a small dice. Mix with the rest of the ingredients, seasoning to taste. Set aside.

  2. To griddle: heat the pan to hot, then cook the steaks, turning after 2 mins, and cooking for another 2 mins each side depending on the thickness of the steaks. Meaty fish is best served slightly ‘pink’. Remove the steaks from the heat allow to stand for 3-5 mins, then spoon over the relish and serve.

Quick, easy, healthy and delicious for a lunch or light supper. I added some chopped watercress and baby spinach to the salad to bulk it up a little.

Lovely, fresh and summery. The website was down when I wanted to make this last night, so had to be a bit creative with ingredients as I couldn't remember much apart from tuna and cucumber! Apart from cucumber and spring onions, I used a red pepper, chilli, fish sauce, rice wine vinegar, a bit of lime juice and a pinch of sugar in the relish, so the dish had a bit of an asian twist to it. Served on rice vermicelli and finished with a drizzle of sesame oil. My husband, who usually isn't keen on this sort of thing, really enjoyed it. I'm going to print out the recipe now so next time I can make the original version even if the site is down :)

I love this recipe! We have never tried tuna steak before & did not know what to expect. I made the salsa with chopped cherry tomatoes, cucumber, red peppers, sweet chilli, lemon juice, mint & abit of parsley. We had it with a small jacket potato & greek salad! It took me less than 15 mins to prepare & cook it :) Id recommend it! x

Really enjoyed this. Added a bit more chilli and also some basil to the relish. Cooked the tuna with some garlic in the pan and served with jacket potatoes and lamb's lettuce - delicious! will be making this again for sure.

Cooked this last night and it was a hit. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the cucumber relish but have overdone it with the chilli. I put two instead of 1 1/2. Will stick to the recipe next time.

I cook tuna steaks often so it was the salsa I was interested in. Both my husband & I thought it lacked something, maybe some fresh mint & coriander and a little more chilli would do the trick. Will play around with it next time. We still enjoyed it though.
