  • 100g light muscovado sugar
  • 100ml orange juice, fresh or from a carton
  • 250g pack fresh or frozen cranberry

A tart, ruby-red coloured berry which grows wild on shrubs throughout northern Europe and North…

  1. Tip the sugar and orange juice into a pan, then bring to the boil. Stir in the cranberries, then simmer until tender but still holding their shape – this will take about 5 mins if using frozen cranberries or 8-10 mins if using fresh. The sauce will thicken as it cools. Will keep in the fridge for 1 week. On the day, bring to room temperature before serving.

I made this yesterday and have frozen it ready for the big day! It tasted lovely and sweet but I did add a sprinkling of mixed spice too but only as we like spiced things at Xmas! On it's own it is yummy enough though. Thank you!

Made this a few times, added a glass or port and some orange zest, wonderful.

So quick, and simple! I used one fresh orange for the juice and made up the shortfall (about 2 tbsp or so) with home made Sloe Gin. Also added a sprinke of mixed spice to the cranberries. Just lovely. Bunged in freezer for Christmas day - can't wait!!.

I always make this in advance and freeze it, it freezes very well, I also add some orange peel.
