  • 100g Self Raising Flour
  • 2tbsp Sugar
  • 1 beaten Egg
  • 150ml Cold Milk

    Method

    • step 1

      Carefully sift the flour into a mixing bowl.
    • step 2

      Add in the sugar and mix together. Make a well in the centre of the mixture.
    • step 3

      In a jug, lightly whisk the egg and milk together.
    • step 4

      Pour the egg and milk into the well and whisk until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
    • step 5

      Lightly grease a frying pan or griddle and preheat to a medium heat.
    • step 6

      Carefully drop 3 separate tablespoons of the mixture into the pan, keeping them well apart.
    • step 7

      When golden brown, flip them over and cook the other side too.
    • step 8

      If stacked between layers of kitchen paper, this will keep them warm and moist until the all others have been cooked.
    • step 9

      Serve with a little butter, jam or golden syrup. A scoop of ice-cream can also make it more special.

    Thanks for this great recipe, I tweaked it by adding a tsp of vanilla essence and fried in a small amount of butter. Perrrrfect! The only problem with the recepie was they still tasted like english pancakes and I really wanted that american cake textured pancake so I will keep looking, works well in…
