A healthier option

You can swap mascarpone and crème fraîche for low-fat cream cheese and fromage frais. however, don't overheat these substitutes as they can split and turn grainy. For extra fibre, wholewheat pasta can be used in any of the dishes, but add 3-4 mins to the cooking time.

Have made this lots of times - found that the peas don't blend in as shown in the photo so I just make it without. I top it off with some grated parmesan.....my husband loves it!

I just drain the pasta and mix everything in the still hot pot. I usually double the creme fraiche and add some chopped green onion into the pasta for some extra flavour which works really well.

I was a bit disappointed with this - I pretty much halved the recipe to suit two of us and despite only using half a pot of creme fraiche, found it a bit too stodgy.

Quick, light, tasty... perfect for midweek, but not very substantial. I use half fat creme fraiche and it works well, might solve the stoginess issue.

I made this but actually used smoked bacon and less peas which worked really well. Add some garlic bread and get mid week meal !

I loved this, will definately be making again. I had no creme fraiche so used cream cheese instead. Was a little thicker but the lemon cuts through and the peas taste lovely with it! Really quick (my kind of cooking with two llittle ones to run after), and looks pretty nice for friends coming round for lunch! God, i love this site! x

Why does it say "You can swap mascarpone and crème fraîche for low-fat cream cheese and fromage frais" when there is no mention of mascarpone in the recipe?

Lovely recipe, i've made this twice both with cream cheese the first time as it was all i had and creme fraiche. Both are gorgeous. Really nice pasta dish with a lovely summery feel with the lemon and garden peas which give it a really fresh taste! I serve with Poppyseed baguette and salad! Gorgeous and really simple, my kind of cooking! :)

I found this too thick and stodgy and the combination of the huge amounts of creme fraiche (despite using less) and the lemon was unfortunately too bitter for us!

I thought this was quite a tasty dish, it was quite filling but satisfying! I had the problems with the peas mixing in as well, just had to remember to spoon them on at the end!

Thought this was awful. I always try recipes twice, as long as they are not too expensive - however it was just as bad. Will definitely not make again, and this has put me off using lemon in cooking.
