Pros

  • a great entry-level whisk for new bakers

Cons

  • no dough hooks, small handle

Morphy Richards electric whisk summary

Though the Morphy Richards was the cheapest whisk we tested, we were impressed by the robust build and shiny, easy-to-clean, plastic casing. This is a lovely, light machine , that's well-balanced and comfortable to hold, even if the handle may be a little small for some. At its staggeringly low price, this is a great machine for new bakers, though with only beaters, its repertoire is a little limited.

What were our first impressions of the Morphy Richards electric whisk?

The Morphy Richards is an entry-level whisk at a budget-friendly price. For someone wanting to learn the baking ropes without spending a lot, or for those after a simple, easy-to-use whisk, this fits the bill perfectly. It’s unfussy and straightforward.

For the price, it’s surprisingly sturdy, with a beautiful, shiny, hard plastic casing that wiped down easily after use.

The lightness of the machine will suit anyone who struggles with hefty kitchen kit. The teardrop-shaped handle is comfortable to hold, but large hands may struggle as it’s quite small. Beware though, tucked into the handle is a turbo function button which is easy to press if holding too tightly.

How is the Morphy Richards electric whisk to use?

The five variable speeds with a 250W motor meant it performed well. There's a gentle vibration throughout, which only become a nuisance at the highest levels. It was the noisiest machine we tested, but not uncomfortably so. We especially liked its balance – there was very little tipping or slipping around when mixing.

With only beaters, this has a limited repertoire compared to others whisks tested, and bread-making is a no, no. Still, it made light work of beating, mixing and whipping – despite taking longer than others to whisk egg whites, the result was more than satisfactory in the end.

Our verdict

This whisk would have scored higher had it had more accessories, like dough hooks. Despite that, we recommend this straightforward machine for its capability and incredibly low price.
