  • 100g malted milk drink powder (we used Horlicks)
  • 200g flaked pudding rice
  • 850ml milk, plus extra if needed

One of the most widely used ingredients, milk is often referred to as a 'complete' food…

  • 1 pack of Maltesers, roughly crushed

  1. Put the malt powder and pudding rice in a saucepan with a pinch of salt and pour in the milk, stirring. Bring to the boil and cook, stirring, for 20-25 mins, depending on how cooked you like your rice pudding, adding a little more milk if needed. Spoon into bowls and scatter over the crushed Maltesers.

I'm cooking a quarter portion. Call me old fashioned but i like my rice cook. Still not cooked after 35 minutes and so ive had to add a lot more milk and water (the recipe is already calorific enough!) Not worth it. I'll stick to rice pudding in the oven from now on.
