Method

  1. Heat oven to 180C/fan 160C/gas 4. Boil the pasta for 2 mins less time than stated on the pack. To make the sauce, melt the butter in a saucepan and stir in the flour. Cook for 1 min, then gradually stir in the milk to make a thick white sauce. Remove from the heat and stir in all but a handful of cheese.

  2. Drain the pasta, mix with the white sauce, tuna, sweetcorn and parsley, then season. Transfer to a baking dish and top with the rest of the grated cheese. Bake for 15-20 mins until the cheese on top is golden and starting to brown.

I make this quite often. Really easy to make and always goes down well - the second time I made it, I had no sweetcorn (or peas!) so added onion and it was just as lovely. I always add a little more cheese though!

This was delicious! I didn't have tinned sweetcorn so I boiled some frozen mixed veg right in with the pasta (shells). I also fried up a little bacon and half a tin of mushrooms and added these to the mix (I halved the recipe). I have a heavy hand with black pepper because I love it, and I felt it added a nice flavour to the dish. Put breadcrumbs and a little parmesan on top, it was stunning!

So after a heavy Friday night out, I was confined to my pajamas and my sofa. There was no way I was leaving the house to find food so it was this or nothing. I'm a pretty good cook, I wouldn't normally make stuff like this and looking at the ingredients list I new it would need extra stuff - I added sauted onions and baby leeks, peas and spinach as well as garlic, chilli and a lot of salt and pepper. I also used parmesan as well as regular cheese. This recipe would be very bland made as is, you need to think about how to brighten it up. otherwise it is just a bit starchy and blah.

Would make again, but with 300ml milk and 250g of cream cheese as we found the sauce a bit runny and flavourless.

Made this last night - yum - really quick and easy to do and looked great on the table. Not particularly 'slimming' with the butter and all the cheese, and I might try it with half fat stuff next time - sure it won't be so tasty though ! Definitely recommend this

For a lovely tangy bechemal, try adding a good dose of Lemon Pepper. Also its a good idea to keep your bechemal is very loose, else it may end up a gluggy mess.

The children love this and it is quick, easy and cheap to make. I usually add a bit of fresh green pesto to the sauce to add flavour -yummy! My 6 year old had 3 portions of this the other day he liked it so much!
I've also successfully tried it with chicken and spinach with parmesan instead of tuna, sweetcorn and cheddar.

I've never liked canned tuna, but made it one of my new years resolutions to try liking it.
This recipe was really easy and went great with the tuna, will be a repeat meal in our home I think.

this is one of those dishes that just need the individual touch, prawns any other fish, chorizo etc, more spice less spice make it your own but just as it comes is lovely! I serve a green veg and crusty bread sometimes.

Lovely dish, really easy to make.
Reduced the fat a bit with just 150g of strong cheese and skimmed milk rather than full fat.
It costs 17 Pro Weight Watchers Points per portion with the changes, so I will be looking for more fat reducing chances next time.
