Method

  1. Heat grill to high. Heat the oil in a large frying pan, then soften the onion and pepper for 5 mins. Stir in the garlic, fry for 1 min, tip in the tomatoes and gnocchi, then bring to a simmer. Bubble for 10-15 mins, stirring occasionally, until the gnocchi is soft and the sauce has thickened. Season, stir through the basil, then transfer to a large ovenproof dish.
  2. Scatter with the mozzarella, then grill for 5-6 mins until the cheese is bubbling and golden.

This was very tasty and I plan to make it again. Was a nice warm, comforting dish for a cold midweek evening.

This recipy is perfect if youve short for time but i did add some chilly with the onions and red peppers....and then some more water when adding the gnocchi otherwise i think youll find the sause would be way too stodgy! Seasoned well super tasty!

Fantastic. I added grated chedder as well as the Mozzarella on the top. Also added extra garlic (4cloves in all) Cayenne pepper and some other small chopped veg - carrot and celery.
To really beef up the tomato tasted I also added 2-3 tsps sundried tomato paste.
Served with a really nice salad and sweet dressing this would make a great supper party dish.
As with all recipes a few personal adjustments make it your own.

This was lovely but the mozarella is a bit stringy and as it doesnt have much of a flavour, made it again with parmesan and was reallt tasty and crispy.

I really think that this recipe deserves five stars. It's so comforting and yummy, and good for you too! I tend to veg it up a bit, and add some chorizo or pancetta for my vegetarian-phobic boyfriend :)

I recently cooked this for a family meal - it was really easy (I'm a novice cook practising for university meals!) and delicious! I chose to cook my gnocchi separately, according to the instructions on the bag (as I was worried they'd be too stodgy) and then added them just before scattering on the mozzarella. I needed to use the whole ball of mozzarella, and I also added a handful of spinach too!

Will definitely make again!

Great midweek dish - added some chopped bacon and oven-baked for 25 mins. Definitely one to do again.

Lovely lovely! However I used 800g chopped tomatos as I thought it was looking too dry, plus added button mushrooms and spinach instead of basil. Will defo make again!

I added some Chorizo it tasted great. I would say that this would serve 3 with a salad.

This was lovely, I took the skin off some sausages and made little balls and added them which made it so much nicer. Also I used grated chedder on top as I prefer the flavour.

I made this last night for the first time and it was really tasty. I had made the sauce and frozen it sevaral weeks ago to use as a standby.

I cooked the Gnocchi seperately and then added to sauce with some spinach and the mozerella and baked in the oven.

I finished the dish off with some finely grated strong goats "cheddar" just before serving.

I am going to make a large batch of the sauce for the freezer and keep a bag of Gnocchi permantley in the fridge as this is a dish that I will be making over and over again.
