Taste team comment

'I would serve this steak dish for a mid-week supper as well as for a barbecue. We used delicious lamb steaks and loved the tangy sauce which, surprisingly, wasn't too sweet.'

The recipe for the sauce produced a rather unattractive, overly ketchupy fininshed product, but at least gave me a good starting point for making bbq sauce. I ended up reducing the ketchup to 100ml, adding a beef oxo cube, a splash of dark soy sauce, and a large pinch of black pepper. I also blitzed it in the blender and the resulting sauce was delicious and much darker, how bbq sauce should be! Served with fillet steak, homemade fries and salad, and was really good! Made so much sauce I froze a load for next time. Highly recommended if you tweak it like I did!

We liked the sauce. Not sure if I used the right amount of tom ketchup, as it's not easy to measure 150ml. I probably put in 4 tbsps. I thought it might need some chilli as usually I would use this, but the Worcester Sauce made it spicy enough. I did need to add a little hot water before serving. Served with winter veg.
