  • 250g box biscotti biscuits
  • 100ml Vin Santo or other sweet dessert wine
  • 400g punnet strawberries, hulled and halved



    Once available in Britain for just a brief period during the summer, strawberries are now a year…

  • 50g golden caster sugar
  • 250g tub mascarpone
  • 284ml carton double cream, softly whipped


  1. Place the biscotti biscuits in a plastic bag and crush them lightly with the end of a rolling pin, leaving them slightly chunky. Tip the crushed biscuits into a bowl, drizzle over the Vin Santo and give it a stir. In small bowl, use a fork to slightly mash half of the strawberries with the sugar.

  2. Whip the mascarpone in a medium bowl, then fold into the whipped cream. If the mixture appears too thick fold through a little milk. In a 1-litre glass bowl, spread half of the soaked biscotti. Top with half of the mashed strawberries and then half of the mascarpone mixture. Repeat until you have used up everything. Slice the remaining strawberries and scatter over the top. Refrigerate, then pack into a cooler as this dessert should be served chilled.

I used amaretti biscuits and limoncello and more strawberries than the recipe states. It was delicious and very popular at a tennis club barbecue. I was asked what the 'toffee' layer was - the biscuits did resemble that consistency. Definitely one to do again for a crowd.

Beautiful recipe, I use amaretti biscuits instead and just good quality desert wine. I also double up on the strawberries. Also - don't cut corners with the strawberries by using a blender! I tried and it resulted in a runny mess that wasn't nearly as good as the recipe is when followed properly.

Boring and disappointing for the lovely ingredients used. Not a patch on Tiramusu was looking for a nice alternative to the only Italian pud in my repetoire. Won't be bothering again.

Lacked body & bite for my taste. All a bt of a soggy mish-mash. However nice flavours. Would improve with more substantial biscuits or less liquid, perhaps straining the crushed srawberries or reducing the volume of dessert wine.

I made this for big Eid party gathering. It came out really delicious. I made 5 big glass trays and it finished within minutes. Everybody loved it and is a big hit now. I used pineapple instead of strawberries and as we don't drink I just used the pineapple syrup to moist the biscuits. Thanks for the beautiful recipe

Made this for a new year's eve party...and it was really well received. I used amaretti biscuits, and added the amaretti liquor instead of a sweet wine.The strawberry layer wasn't going to be sufficient, so I added halfed green grapes.

I used twice the amount of strawberries and amaretti biscuits, as suggested by other posts. Very yummy, took it to a friend's BBQ and they were all very impressed

Very good with amaretto bisquits, I've made this twice and it has been a success.

There's quite a bit of liquid from the crushed strawberries (maybe I mashed them too profoundly, sliced might have been just as good), so be careful with the wine so that the bisquits remain a bit dry and will soak up some of the liquid.

Had to jiggle this one, I used twice the amount of stawberries and had to use a sweet dessert wine (Muscat) as I couldn't find Vin Santo anywhere, not even Waitrose! Also used italian sponge fingers not biscotti. However it made a lovely light strawberry tiramisu style dessert which easily served 8.

This was a huge hit at a recent dinner party and incredibly easy to make. Used amarreti biscuits and 500g of strawberries. Small leftovers kept well in fridge for 2 days. Will def. do again and will try gigi90's idea above.

Lovely recipe. I would suggest using more strawberries as the strawberry layer was a bit thin.

I have made this loads of times, its so easy, I swop the fruit for seasonal or instant, e.g lovely made with jar of morello cherries and kirsch rather than vin santo, scrummy!

I made this with a little more mascarpone and swopped the strawberries for mixed berries. This made it colourful. I also added a couple of drops of lemon extract to the cheese & cream mixture.
Looked good and tasted yummy although rather sweet.

I used arametti biscuits & lots more stawberries. It looks impressive. Took it to my work's bbq & it went down very well.

This is a beautiful recipe with wonderful flavours. I used Chateau Haut-Bergeron and found some Biscotti biscuits at our local Italian shop though not the traditional ones and I might try amaretti biscuits next time. I would suggest using more strawberries, this is definitely one for the folder.

Fantastic recipe - everyone loves it and asks for the recipe. Double up on the strawberries but don't be tempted to put extra wine in as it makes it too runny.
