  • 125ml maple syrup
  • 2 tbsp honey

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 300g rolled oats
  • 50g sunflower seed
  • 4 tbsp sesame seeds
  • 50g pumpkin seeds
  • 100g flaked almond
  • 100g dried berries (find them in the baking aisle)
  • 50g coconut flakes or desiccated coconut

Method

  1. Heat oven to 150C/fan 130C/gas 2. Mix the oil, maple syrup, honey and vanilla in a large bowl. Tip in all the remaining ingredients, except the dried fruit and coconut, and mix well.

  2. Tip the granola onto two baking sheets and spread evenly. Bake for 15 mins, then mix in the coconut and dried fruit, and bake for 10-15 mins more. Remove and scrape onto a flat tray to cool. Serve with cold milk or yogurt. The granola can be stored in an airtight container for up to a month.

Been toying with making this for ages - wish I had done it earlier - really good - so much so will not be buying granola in future -easy recipe and lots of things could be substituted for other things if you don't have them - yummy !

A fantastic base recipe, and easy to vary the ingredients. I like using chopped stem ginger as well as dried fruit and swapping a proportion of the maple syrup / honey with the stem ginger syrup. I also like to put small chunks of dark chocolate in occasionally.

This recipe is lovely. I added linseed and threw in some macadamia and pecan nuts. Easy to make and much nicer than shop bought.

Adore this recipe! easiest one i've found, I have granola almost every morning with banana and yoghurt (sometimes rasberries too) This recipe is quite basic, but pretty much perfect, I'm in the middle of making some right now and I always add some ginger or cinnamon, and I'm trying lemon zest in this batch, not sure how it'll turn out but it's worth a try! Also I can never afford maple syrup so I use all honey instead, tried it with some golden syrup but it made the whole thing a bit sickly, so if you don't have any maple syrup, honey works just as well!

It's just out of the oven! Smells delicious, tastes great and is retaining its crunchiness as it cools. Looking forward to tomorrow morning already! Left it in the oven for an extra 10 mins as some previous comments have suggested. Added chia seeds instead of sesame seeds and also added pecan nuts. Omitted the dried fruit as would prefer to eat with some chopped fresh fruit...
The granola is fully cooled now and I've just enjoyed some with natural yoghurt. Big thumbs up!

I've made it this mornig and it tastes absolutely delicious,I only put 1 tbsp of oil and didn't use any coconut tried keep it to a lower calorie and it turned out to be perfect and crunchy, yum. Will definately make it again

The smell coming from the oven is wonderful, just making my 1st batch of this and it looks delicious. I just used sultanas as it was all I had in, but will enjoy varying the dried fruit content next time. Im sure I am going to be making this time after time!!

Great recipe. The granola has a great texture, good stickiness / clumps & lovely mix of flavours. You can get away with less maple syrup e.g. 90ml v's 125ml - which is good as it's so very expensive.

AMAZING! I have just made this and it's fantastic! It's literally just come out of the oven and I've already eaten a good few spoonfuls. I couldn't find maple syrup here in Spain so I just used the same amount of honey. I also added brazil nuts, soya beans and giant sunflower seeds. I can't wait til breakfast tomorrow! If it lasts that long...

I found this a littlle too sweet, so added around 40ml less syrup. I also used extra virgin olive oil instead of vegetable oil - as its much healthier. It really is very tasty - a definate winner with the whole family.

PERFECT! I can't stop eating this. Healthy Breakfast, and I don't feel ill until mid afternoon, which is unusual. Love it.

Substitute agave nectar for the maple syrup. Tastes exactly the same but agave nectar is low GI and 2/3 cals!

This easily keeps me full until lunch time. I no longer stick religiously to the recipe and add in whatever fruits etc I have in the cupboard. I quite like it with some pecans and dried blueberries added. My only complaint is that everyone in the house gobbles it up at speed so I have to hide it or loose it!

I cant believe how easy it was to make. I now double the recipe so it lasts longer, problem being, once I have it I can't stop eating it until its all gone! At least I know what I'm eating and its a much healthier snack than crisps which is one of my many vices! I use dried cranberries giving it a tart kick to it, have used dried raisons, blueberries and have made several organic batches, although working out more expensive than shop bought organic my selection of ingredients are far more superior. ie. they use cane or similar type syrup sweetner and have lots more oats and proportionately less berries and have slivers of almonds rather than whole chunky ones that I use in mine. I have given pots of it to my family/friends and they always want more...All in all a great recipe and very pleased to have found it. Cant go back to shop bought granola any more!

Great recipe, very tasty and easy to make an organic batch which can be made cheaper than organic granola in the shops. I make it healthier by adding Agave Nectar (100% organic) instead of maple syrup.

just made this lovely granola recipe, and I can honestly say that it is lovely, I did make changes, only to suit what fruit and nuts I had in the cupboard, I also added mixed spice and a little vanilla, it smells lovely while cooking, so much my children asked what I was making, and couldn't not wait for it to cool so that they could taste it, I served with some plain yoghurt and they loved it, will serve tomorrow with milk for breakfast, enjoy!
