  1. In a large microwaveable dish, mix the ketchup, vinegar, sugar and garlic thoroughly with the chicken, onion and peppers. Microwave, uncovered, on High for 8-10 minutes until the chicken is starting to cook and the sauce is sizzling.

  2. Stir in the pineapple pieces and sugar snap peas and return to the microwave for another 3-5 minutes until the chicken is completely cooked. Leave to stand for a few minutes, then stir in the cashews, if using, and serve.

Followed the recipe pretty much other than using a wok instead of microwave. Also, I used normal frozen peas as opposed to sugar snap. This was tremendous, very very easy to prepare and cook, as well as the bonus of being quite a cheap recipe. Tasted better than a takeaway and much healthier- would definately make again

Also cooked in a wok. Used half recipe as only 2 of us. I used left over chicken, so breast and thigh went into it. Also used left over mixed vegetabled as didn't have sugar snap peas. A delightful tasty dinner. Will make it again, possibly with left over pork.

Cooked in the microwave, very dubious but it worked out really well. Really nice thick sauce and the fresh pineapple with it was delicious. I also put in baby sweetcorn at the time I was put in the pineapple and this worked well. I would suggested cutting the chicken into small pieces and this way it cooks through.

Never made sweet and sour chicken before and agree with other comments that cooking in a microwave isn't appealing. Any suggestions for how to cook in wok please???

I cooked in a large flameproof pan, adding grated ginger with the onions and garlic, and broccoli florets instead of sugar snap peas. I also added some of the pineapple juice. It does need seasoning too as, unlike many stir fry recipes, it doesn't include soy sauce. Very tasty and EASY.

This really was a lovely recipe - very fresh tasting and much better than takeaway sweet and sour. I cooked it in the wok and it worked well. You could adapt with whatever veg you have.

Just made this for the first time, and i really enjoyed it, rather than using the microwave, i cooked it all on the hob!
Was surprised at how good the taste was - as i was a bit dubious. Very easy to make - and super tasty!

My 13 year old son made this recipe, on the hob, with just a little help with the prep and he was so pleased with himself - as were we because it was delicious. Used half the amount of chicken and kept the veg the same for three people. Worked really well and very healthy.

This is a really lovely recipe. I never knew sweet and sour was so easy to make, simple ingredients and very quick. Ideal if you're not a confident cooker, like me! You really can't go wrong.

This is a lovely recipe. My 3 year old daughter helped me cook (in a wok). She couldn't stop licking the spoon ! I added a pinch of ginger, and a little pineapple juice.

A quick and easy mid week meal. Most ingredients are store cupboard ones! Very tastey although you had to use a lot of Ketchup- which is very sugary. I would definitely make it again though.
