  • 300g jumbo oats
  • 100g Allbran
  • 25g wheatgerm
  • 100g dark raisins
  • 140g ready-to-eat apricots, snipped into chunks

Method

  1. Mix everything in a large bowl.

  2. Pour lots of chilled milk over and let it soak while you make tea. If you want to sweeten it, grate over some unpeeled apple and sprinkle with dark muscovado sugar.

  3. Store for up to 2 months, airtight.

Loved this recipe. I was short of jumbo oats so did half in half with oatmeal which worked well. A 40g serving looked very small but with a handful of grapes on top it kept me going from 7.30 till 1.30 today without a rumble. Only slight drawback I caught my partner taking it out to the shed because he thought it was ginea pig food!!

A very simple and interchangeable recipe to make, try mixing different nuts/dried fruits into the mix to keep it interesting. Goes very nicely with some fresh fruit sliced on top or some natural yogurt. Would definitely rank it higher above most supermarket brands, plus you know & can control exactly what's going into it!

Try the Swiss way of eating muesli. Instead of soaking it in milk just add 75ml or so of orange juice to the dry mix, let stand for 30 mins, grate a fresh cox apple to it and serve with yoghurt and honey. Much better than boring old milk!!!

I made this and have to say it is certainly a lot better taste wise than any shop bought ones,I added brazil nuts for my needs.

Made this last night and just had it for breakfast! It's lovely. Very nice with almond milk.
Definitely won't be lasting 18 bowlfuls though, I reckon about 9!

A good recipe which is tasty as it is or it can easily be tweaked to include your favourite dried fruit (I like dried cranberries), nuts (I like some flaked almonds) and seeds (I like sunflower seeds).

I have been making this for quite a while I add other fruits such as sultanas as well also pumpkin seeds and sunflower seeds absolutely gorgeous!

Try adding grape nuts, and using fruit juice (apple or cranbury) instead of milk.

I have made muesli before and used crumbled-up Weetabix. Gives a very nice texture. Also adding lecithin is very beneficial for lowering cholesterol I have heard.

Add the milk just before you are going to eat it.

Hi! Im not sure i get the recipe. Are you meant to add the milk when you are about to eat it, like at breakfast time, or when you prepare thw whole lot? If you prepare the whole lot and then add the milk, how will it keep for two months? I think im missing something. Will someone please explain?

a very good museli, I added more nuts ie almonds, brazils, and seeds, ie sunflower and pumpkin seeds. Really delicious topped with live natural yoghurt and honey.

I have been making this now for several years. Much better than some bought ones with added sugar and dried milk. Extras can be added to suit personal taste.
