What's in season: June
Strawberries
To enjoy strawberries at their fragrant, juicy and flavourful best - hold out for the British season, and save on those air miles, too.
-
Gooseberries
A distant cousin of the blackcurrant, gooseberries come in shades of green right through to rich, deep red. They work well in tarts, jams, jellies or as a fool.
-
Broad beans
If you've a glut in your garden or allotment, make the most of tender broad beans in a mash or purée. They're right at the start of their two month peak in June.
-
Cherries
Fresh off the tree or baked into sumptuous desserts, now's the time to start enjoying this plump, sensuous fruit.
