Breville high gloss electric kettle first impressions

This kettle tested highly for us in the mid-budget range as it has everything you could want in a non-variable temperature kettle.

The kettle is available in white and cream, with matching toasters available too.

It is noticeably sleek and modern looking, with its grey exterior complemented by a stainless steel mesh effect trim near the bottom. The square-ish handle is in a contrasting black and the ‘on’ switch is pleasingly chunky. We also liked the feel of the textured lid button which sits flush in the handle.

How easy is it to use?

The water gauge illuminates when the kettle starts working, so you can see at a glance that it is on. The short, wide spout makes for a smooth and easy pour. The base is neat and has the same footprint as the kettle, which is important if worktop space is at a premium. There’s a good-sized lead, too.

Summary

Functionally, the kettle performed well. It was pretty speedy to boil, averaging 2 minutes 11 seconds for a litre of water straight from the tap.
