Ingredients

  • 568ml pot double cream
  • 250g tub mascarpone
  • 75ml marsala
  • 5 tbsp golden caster sugar
  • 300ml strong coffee, made with 2 tbsp coffee granules and 300ml boiling water
  • 175g pack sponge fingers
  • 25g chunk dark chocolate
  • 2 tsp cocoa powder

Method

  1. Put the cream, mascarpone, Marsala and sugar in a large bowl. Whisk until the cream and mascarpone have completely combined and have the consistency of thickly whipped cream.
  2. Get your serving dish ready. Put the coffee into a shallow dish and dip in a few sponge fingers at a time, turning for a few secs until they are nicely soaked, but not soggy. Layer these into your dish until you have used half the biscuits, then spread over half of the creamy mixture. Using the coarse side of the grater, grate over most of the chocolate. Then repeat the layers (you should use up all the coffee), finishing with the creamy layer.
  3. Cover and chill for a few hrs or overnight. This can now be kept in the fridge for up to 2 days. To serve, dust with cocoa powder and grate over the remainder of the chocolate.

This is hardly a Tiramisu! As an Italian I am quite irratated at this recipe being described as the 'Best Ever Tiramisu'! Where are the eggs and why use cream?? Mamma Mia........ ;-)

I made this for a party and substituted the marsala for ameretto it was delicious a real hit will definitly make it again!

Oh boy this is to die for. I couldnt get Masala wine so i used what i had in the house. I had a little bit of Brandy, Pale cream sherry and a bit of my Salterne. A bit of an unusal mix maybe but it worked a treat. I also added a bit of all of these to the coffee part aswell as the cream. Yummy!!

I've made this a couple of times and I agree it isn't an authentic tiramisu but it is very tasty, quick and easy to make. I had a dinner party for about 13 people including a couple of hardcore tiramisu fans and this was one of two deserts I made, everyone thought it was delicious! I used Sherry as that was all I had to hand and kept in the fridge for 24 hrs before serving to allow all the flavours to mingle.

I made individual versions of this in small glasses. It went down very well though in future I would use less of the cream mixture and increase the proportion of the coffee soaked biscuits as it was just a little too rich! Very very tasty though and my guests all enjoyed it and had no idea it was so easy!

I totally agree with some comments, i.e that it should be called 'cheats' Tiramisu' however if we forget about the name of the recipe then actually this is delicious! I made for a dinner party (6 guests) but had to make my own sponge fingers as one of my guests had a wheat allergy (this was effort but rather yummy).. the cream mixture is really easy although i added probably double the masarla and also needed about double the coffee... i have given 5 stars because it really was scrummy and kept very nicely. I will do keep this in mind in future for parties and am planning to use the cream mix as the topping of a triffle soon!

I wouldn't call it "Best-ever tiramisú", although it's a good recipe. The original, traditional Italian Tiramisú, which contains eggs is much better.
As I said before, I liked this recipe, very rich and would easily serve 8 people. I prepared it the night before we went to visit a friend and it was delicious. It doesn't taste good if left in the fridge another night as it becomes dry with a cheesy consistency.
I used sherry instead of marsala and it was fine.

I have made this dish two times now and each time it has been a big success. It is now my go to desert dish for special occasions. I agree there is a lot of cream but it is lovely. Try using the extra to top a cup of coffee yum, or served over fresh fruit. I would like to try to cut the calorie and particularly the fat content as lots of people are health conscious these days and I feel guilty tempting them with such a devilish desert. Any Ideas???

One star as it is easy and looks good.
One star as the cream mix tastes nice.
But... 3/4 of my guests left it as there was just too much cream and not enough sponge. I had to throw the rest away. I wish I had taken note of the other raters' hints. :( An embarrassing pudding experience at a dinner party!

really nice and very simple to make! made as individual portions. I found another similar recipe in one of my cook books - it has cherries in the layers and cherry brandy mixed with coffee - will try next time :)

Just made this for a group of friends and they loved it! There was too much cream mixture and next time I would add more biscuits but it tasted great and my friends loved it and what more do you want from a dessert?
I'll definitely be making it again!

I made this recipe from scratch. Baked my own Savoiardi, made my own mascarpone cheese because both were not available in the supermarket where I live. Ah well, but I followed the rest to the hilt and the tiramisu came out splendidly. We made enough to feed 12, but this light airy dish is almost nighing finish and only 6 people have eaten so far :)
Will definitely make it again.

I added a bit of cooled coffee to the cream and marscapone mix, and added a splash of marsala to the rest of the coffee to soak the sponge fingers in. Served it out to friends and they all wolfed it down. Gorgeous!!

Accept it for what it is & you have a really simple, easy to make & delicious desert - whatever you want to call it.
I substituted port for the marsala as I didn't have any and it was still simply gorgeous & so, so easy.
I used very strong 85% dark grated chocolate and the result was brilliant.
Needed more sponge fingers than stated but I think that depends on the size of the dish you use.
Don't look at the calorie and fat content if you are at all concious though - definitely one just for an ocaisional treat!
