Ingredients

  • 170g margarine
  • 170g caster sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 170g self-raising flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder

Method

    1. Preheat oven to 180/fan Cream together margarine and caster sugar
    2. One at a time beat the eggs and add to the mixture with a tbsp of the flour
    3. Fold in the remaining flour and baking powder
    4. Split mixture into 2 sandwich tins and bake for about 20mins
    5. When done the cake/s should be golden brown and spongy to touch
    6. Tips: grease the tin with some extra margarine then coat with some extra flour for easy removal from the tin
    7. Filling idea: Whipped cream, rasberry jam and a layer of strawberries tastes and looks good in a cake.
    8. Filling idea: Try Chocolate Butter icing (icing sugar, cocoa, and butter) from a bit of chocolate indulgence.
    9. For a decorative finish place a doilie over the cake and sprinkle with icing sugar. carefully remove the doilie, leaving behind a pattern of sugar.

Made this cake over Easter and thoroughly enjoyed it! I've never been into baking until this year and have been looking for a simple but tasty cake recipe. This one is so easy to make, light and fluffly! Thanks for adding this one :-)

Hi sorry I don't know how I managed to forget the oven temperature. I usually cook it on 180/c or 200/c if I'm in a hurry.

This was an easy recipe to follow but it would have been better if it had an oven temperature !!!!!!!!!! :P :) :D

where's the ingredients? and also i need to know the measurements and the temperature i need the oven at!

This would be far more helpful if an oven temp was included! Or did I miss it somewhere?
