Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 garlic clove, crushed
  • 400g can chopped tomatoes
  • 1 tsp vegetable stock powder or ½ crumbled stock cube
  • 1 tbsp tomato purée
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • few basil leaves

Method

  1. Heat the oil in a pan, add the garlic, then gently fry for 1 min.
  2. Tip in all the other ingredients, except the basil, then bring to the boil.
  3. Reduce the heat, then simmer uncovered for 5 mins, stirring occasionally.
  4. To finish, tear the basil leaves, then stir into the sauce.

I love this sauce. It's quick and easy to make and the ingredients are always in the cupboard and don't go off quickly. I was wondering about freezing it though.
I'm assuming that you just leave it to cool completely and then freeze. Allowing it to defrost thoroughly before reheating.

can someone please tell me if i'm wrong with this assumption!

Made this as arrabiata sauce and it was delicious!!! Put in some torn chicken and was just like the sauce on M&S penne arrabiata and i loved it! Will be using the recipe all the time now!

How can something so simple taste so good? This is now the only sauce my husband will eat on pasta, which makes life much easier for me!.
