Ingredients

  • 200g softened butter
  • 300g soft brown sugar
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 eggs
  • 300g self raising flour
  • 80g cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 300g choc chips

Method

    1. preheat oven to 180 c/ gas 4
    2. cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy, then beat in vanilla extract and eggs
    3. in a separate bowl sift flour, cocoa and baking powder together
    4. add flour mix to the creamed mix in stages( a third at a time) mix well. fold in choc chips until just combined.
    5. spoon a tablespoon of the mixture on to a baking tray and just let it drop off the spoon, repeat until you have used up all the cookie mixture.

Brilliant cookies, everyone here loved them.
I halved the recipe and still managed to make 11 reasonably large cookies, so doing the full amount will make 15 pretty large ones :)

I have now made these cookies twice and the family love them, they dont stay around for to long lol,i used a bar of chocolate that i chopped up which gave the cookies a great chunky look, they smell lovely while cooking and taste just like the shop brought ones, going to make some more today but will try m&ms or smarties...A must try you will not be dissapointed...

i have made these cookies around 6 times now, and each time they have turned out great, i even entered them in our local flower show in the cookery class and they came 1st, they are easy to make and i have used white choc chips from time to time and they're as good, thanks

Really nice though a bit large for me to give the children. I used less mixture per cookie and baked for 10 mins instead. Yum x

Have made these 3 times and each time they have been delicious, took one batch to work and they went down so well they are already asking me to make more, well worth making.

I made these cookies and they were magic. I used M&M's instead of choc chips and they were fabulous, really stodgey and chocolately. I got lots of compliments. Will definately make these again. Many thanks for sharing the recipe Carol.

These are lovely! I miss read the recipe so didn't buy enough chocolate, so instead of 300g of chocolate chopped up i only used 150g and then added some dried cranberries and chopped mixed nuts instead. They were lovely, especially when they are still warm and the chocolate was soft!! My husband wants me to make them again!!
