  1. Heat oil in a pan. Fry the carrots and onion for 5 mins until starting to soften. Add the stock and tomatoes, then simmer for 10 mins. Add the peas and beans with 5 mins to go.

  2. Once veg is tender, stir in the pasta. Return to the boil and simmer for 2 mins until the pasta is just cooked. Stir in the basil, if using. Season, then serve in bowls topped with a sprinkling of Parmesan and slices of garlic bread.

I tried this dish but Iswopped the tortellini for Heinz tinned ravioli, also I didn't have any parmesan so I substituted it with a finely chopped dairylea triangle. It was ok but next time I might try alphabetti spaghetti.

Just made this for tea and thought it very tasty - did it exactlty as recipe. will try tiny chopped pieces of chorizo in it next time, as previously suggested and maybe a touch of chilli.

I did quite like the soup but to be honest I'm not sure about the amount of time it takes. Not long in soup terms but this stuff cooks in less than 5 mins usually so seemed more hassle than it was worth. I would probably make it again - but only to make a pack of pasta go further really.

So easy and tasty. We always make a double quantity of the sauce and freeze half before adding the pasta, then we can have it twice for the effort of cooking once.

I made this for my hungry student flat of 8.
This meal was quick, so easy to make, healthy and the ingredients were all cheap.
Also, it went down an absolute treat with the house and despite making more than the recipe said was required it was all finished!

Definately a winner! Easy to make and tastes great. I made this for my family-in-law and they were very impressed - i didn't tell them how easy it was!

I loved this! So easy to make and the flavours are lovely. I used a spoonful of pesto to replace the basil and thought it worked really well. And the cheese is great sprinkled on top. My bf had a portion without the pesto and chesse and thought it was lacking flavour so I'd recommend adding them.
