  • 8 rashers streaky bacon, chopped into large pieces
  • 4 chicken breast, cut into large chunks
  • 200g pack baby button mushroom
  • 1 tbsp plain flour
  • 400g tin chopped tomato with garlic

Method

  1. Heat a shallow saucepan and sizzle the bacon for about 2 mins until starting to brown. Throw in the chicken, then fry for 3-4 mins until it has changed colour. Turn up the heat and throw in the mushrooms. Cook for a few mins, stir in the flour, then cook until a paste forms.

  2. Tip in the tomatoes, stir, then crumble in the stock cube. Bubble everything for 10 mins, splash in the Worcestershire sauce, stir through the parsley, then serve with mash or boiled rice.

This is a lovely dish although I too added a little sup'm sup'm to further enhance. I added the onions and garlic but as I didn't have any red wine I used balsamic vinegar and a little water and herbes de Provence instead.

Cooked this tonight for myself and my wife and the 4 kids and from the baby right up to the 10 year old, they all enjoyed it
Cooked it with creamy Potatoes on the side instead of Rice.
In the menu given, I ALSO added in crushed garlic and onions whilst adding in the button mushrooms. Towards the end as it was a little drying up, I added in a little red wine, mixed it in with the chopped parley which seemed to give it a great deep taste.
Great Dish and a great winter warmer.

Lovely midweek meal, I did however adapt it slightly. I used fresh garlic, added some tomato purée, red wine, extra Worcestershire sauce and some HP sauce - really made a lovely rich deep sauce. Very tasty.

Didn't use bacon, mushrooms or flour but used plain tinned chopped tomatoes and added fresh garlic, tomato puree and Worcester sauce with some courgettes, onion, red pepper and celery. Rather than a 'crumble' stock cube I used a Knorr beef 'Stock Pot'. Also added some chopped fresh basil - tasted divine! Really quick delicious meal that gave a lovely sauce and went really well with the mustard mash. Will definitely do again and again!

I also used chicken thighs and made it earlier in the day so the flavours had really enriched when we came to eating it at dinner time.

I made this with a slight adaptation of using smoked streaky bacon and it worked a treat creating a really deep smokey sauce. I would definitely do it again as both me and my fella enjoyed it very much

I like to adapt recipes to my taste so I made this tonight added fresh herbs thyme, basil, chives, and few more shallots (6) with 1/4 bottle of white wine, mixed herbs (dried) fresh small plum tomatoes (10). and two tablespoons of Worcester sauce. Two more Beef stock cubes and 3 segments of garlic. place all in saute pan and after all was cooked moved to casserole dish. Thickening as states with flour. Let it simmer in electric casserole dish for hour It was absolutely delicious. The flavours were great. Everyone in family had some and all loved it. Thanks

Horrible, horrible, horrible. A waste of chicken and bacon and a tin of tomatoes. So disappointed with it. It was slimy and lacked any kind of flavor. Really just half a star for being a simple dish but does not taste good if you like flavor.

Really quick, easy and v healthy, tastes fantastic if you add some extra beef stock. Chopped tomatoes give the sauce a really good thick texture without adding loads of flour or granules. Definitely recommend this.

Loved it!!! This was so tasty and filling...at first when it was cooking I wasn't sure but the addition of some red wine, garlic and paprika as others had suggested and lots of parsley it was absolutely delicious and so quick and easy to make....Served it with mustard mash and crusty onion loaf from the oven....lovely ;0)

Made this for tea yesterday, Was easy to make and was tasty, added herbs and garlic to it and some leeks as they needed using. Served with potatoes and green beans. Was enjoyed by all.

This was quick, easy and delicious. I used boned thighs as that is what I had, plus I used smoked streaky bacon. This gave the dish a really distinctive and tasty flavour. Also had no parsley so added some dried thyme instead.
My only (very small) complaint is that there wasn't a huge amount of sauce and what there was was very thick. I won't add the flour next time, but will add a little water instead to give more sauce.
Otherwise - lovely!

I added an extra can of chopped tomatoes, reduced the bacon to 6 thin cut smoked medallions, also added a little garlic. If you're on slimming world you can forget the tbsn of flour and use a tbsp of Smash to thicken the mixture. Served with mash potato... YUM!
