Method

  1. Heat the grill to high. Snip the sides of the gammon steaks with kitchen scissors so they don’t curl up too much when they cook. Put the gammon onto a baking tray, then grill on one side for about 10 mins until the fat is crisp. Meanwhile, cook the cauliflower in boiling water for 5 mins until tender. Drain and tip into a bowl with the mustard, crème fraîche and two-thirds of the cheese and give it all a good mix.
  2. When the gammon is crisp, flip it over and cook on the other side for about 10 mins. Spoon the cauliflower mix over the gammon, sprinkle with cheese, then grill for 5 mins until bubbling and golden.

I tried this recipe, and absolutely loved it, very easy! I would say that 10 minutes under a hot grill is a bit long as the edges of the steaks got a bit burnt, so next time I will reduce the cooking time to 8 minutes.

Wasn't expecting much from this but I was really pleased! I spread the mixture over two large gammons rather than 4 little ones. I made mine with fat free natural yoghurt and it as gorgeous. I made my boyfriends with single cream as he is not calorie conscious. It wasn't as thick as mine but he said it was really tasty. Serves with with mash and mushy peas. Will do it again for sure

This is such a quick & delicious meal my husband & I both loved it! I followed the recipe exactly except I could only get cooked smoked ham steaks so just grilled them for 5 minutes on one side & 5 on the other side with the cauliflower on top, yum!

Really nice dish, not as good as a standard cauliflower cheese but a great substitue to save some calories. Definately a keeper, although i may experiment with different types of mustard next time for a stronger flavour and use reduced fat cheddar to save even more calories.

Wonderful. I used kassler chops as I live in South Africa. So simple to do that I'm now using this instead of ordinary cheese sauce. I also use whatever cheese I have.
