  • 1 small ripe banana

Probably the best known, most popular tropical fruit, their name probably derives from the…

  • about 140g blackberries, blueberries, raspberries or strawberries (or use a mix), plus extra to serve

Once available in Britain for just a brief period during the summer, strawberries are now a year…

  • apple juice or mineral water, optional
  • runny honey, to serve

Honey is made by bees from the nectar they collect from flowers. Viscous and fragrant, it's…

  1. Slice the banana into your blender or food processor and add the berries of your choice. Whizz until smooth. With the blades whirring, pour in juice or water to make the consistency you like. Toss a few extra fruits on top, drizzle with honey and serve.

have this for breakfast most mornings but because I am always in a rush I like to put the fruit in a freezer bag in the freezer the night before then in the morning all I have to do is empty the bag of fruit and add a tiny dash of juice(and yoghurt if I want a thicker smoothie) Be careful not to add too much juice though unless you want a thinner consistency

Really want to start having more smoothies this summer and am definitely starting with this one - it looks soooo goooood - berries are just the best things ever

Drinking this now! I used some frozen mixed berries (didn't weigh them), 1 banana, a couple of spoonfuls of low-fat natural yoghurt and some water - lovely!

My smoothie journey began with this one! Love it!

I find the best combination is 1 banana, a heaped tbsp of greek yoghurt and a handful of frozen berries with a good splash-2 tbsp of fruit juice (any), this is a good amount for one person, i don't add honey as trying to keep as mcuh sugar out my diet (i know honey is natural sugar) i just don't think its needs any more sweetness but guess that's my personal taste

Lovely smoothie!!! The first one I've ever made, so easy and yummy!!

FANTASTIC I loved it. It is only August now but think I will use this at christmas, but swap apple juice for Champagne. My mum is allergic to citrus, so cannot usually have bucks fizz.

Forgot the banana but still turned out good. I'm probably going to make this a usual breakfast, very quick and easy.

I have made this with orange juice and its equally yummy.

Lovely. I added some lime juice as I put in too much honey. Gives it nice 'bite'.

I made this using bananas and blackberries with some sparkling mineral water, I also blended the honey in. It was really nice. I don't like creamy smoothies using milk or yoghurt because I find them sickly but this was refreshing and I will most definitely make it again!

This was oh-so-good! I will be making it over and over again. I think apple juice was the secret ingredient here, plus all the flavours just combined very nicely, none of them standing out too much. Highly recommended!

I never really like eating on a morning and so i thought instead I would give smoothies a try. I didn't use any honey as I don't like honey and I used a little low fat greek yogurt instead. But it was delicious and the recipe made enough for me to bottle up the rest and have it with my lunch. Lovely.

How do you work out the serving size of this, seems like silly question but when I'm using MyFitnessPal to track food intake, I need to put a per gram amount.

goodfoodteam's picture

This recipe serves one person, you could weigh it after you have made it to help you.

emilycraig14's picture

do u need 2 use frozen fruits or normal?

goodfoodteam's picture

Hi there. You can use either but if using frozen fruits let them defrost first, thanks.
