  1. In a large saucepan, cook onion and garlic in olive oil for 5 mins until softened and turning golden. Tip in the beef strips, pepper, tomatoes and rosemary, then bring to the boil. Simmer for 15 mins until the meat is cooked through, adding some boiling water if needed. Stir through the olives and serve with mash or polenta.

Made this dish last night- lovely but the beef that i bought was stir fry beef from ASDA and needed to cook for at least an hour and a half. Would deffo recommend this for anyone who likes warm, hearty and healthy food! Will be making this again for sure!

Enjoyable, quick and easy to make if you don't slow cook it. Wasn't keen on the addition of peppers, next time would replace with green beans and mushrooms. We took peoples advice and added the stock cube, but we didn't seem to need the flour.

I tried this last night and it was fab, I also put in over for an hour after softing the onions with garlic over a pan first. Might have been better to brown the beef to make it softer. I added hot peppers, beans, carrotts, red wine and some extra paprika ( had a great kick ) also served with a little bit of brown rice. It definitley doesnt serve 4 as stated. I almost ate the lot it was so nice.. If it did serve 4 I certainly made a pig of myself.. No complaints haha

I made this last night and added Tomato puree,some mixed herbs and red wine.I also transferred it to the oven and cooked for about an hour and the beef came out very soft.It was great,would highly recommend.

I made this the other night and it was a HUGE success. I left out the yellow pepper and added slices of courgette instead. I left it simmering for a lot longer.. delicious!!!

Good recipie - delicious! I cooked for longer than stated and added some fresh beef stock and mixed herbs. Serverd with steamed spinich.
I think mushrooms may be a good addition and also I would use a better cut of steak so its more tender.

After the allotted cooking time, I found it to be very tomato'y and the very thin, so I added 100g couscous (to soak up the tomato juices) / 50g chickpeas and 50g apricots so it is now an Italorrcan !!!!. Yet to try it and see what it tastes like !!!!

I added butterbeans and a dash of tabasco and put it in the oven for an hour, really tasty!

Made this tonight for tea and it was gorgeous! Definately will be making this again. I added two tins of tomatoes and put it into the oven to cook the meat until tender. Served it with homemade tomato and parmesan bread cakes and steamed broccolli.

RLefever - I cooked my beef strips beforehand in half a beef stock cube because I like it to fall apart. Then when I added it to the rest of the ingredients, I added a splash of Tabasco for a kick and plenty of black pepper. Maybe that will work better for you.

Recipies - I don't like Rosemary as it's too strong for me, try oregano instead, it's more Italian too!

Used Tesco stir fry beef strips but even after slow cooking in the oven they were tough so next time will use braising steak I think. Also added a bit too much rosemary - especially since I followed other's advice and let it reduce uncovered in the oven. This concentrated the flavours a bit too much and made it very overpowering.

May try it again but not that special to be honest

This was just SO thin on flavour so I added chilli, wine, balsamic vinegar and, as someone previously suggested, put it in the over for 30 mins. Then it was quite tasty. Otherwise it's like a very weak ratatouille sauce with bits of beef in it.

Lovely made this today and even my 7 year old son ate all of it even the yellow peppers.

Easy to make and quick too. Delicious as it is not as heavy as a winter veg stew even though I served it with mashed potatoes, it still felt more like a spring/summer dish. I added a splash of Tabasco to give it a slight kick without being spicy.

I think this is ok as a base but needs additions - as it was Italian, I threw in glass of wine, more veg (cabbage and beans), bacon - and finished with a spoon of pesto. Also used flour to thicken. It was fine.

I trebled this as people said it served 2, but it made LOADS for 5 adults and 3 kids !! easy and delicious - we had it with mash and buttered cabbage and green beans. I did add a beef stock cube but think it would have been fine without. My kids loved it !!

this was an easy and tasty recipe which i served with baby potatoes, next time i think i would just serve it with some crusty bread. I did it in the oven for an hour as suggested and added some paprika, tomato puree and beef stock to give extra flavour, I also left out the olives as I dont like them much

Absolutely scrummy. Followed the ingredient list almost exactly. Did add some green beans and a bit of chilli and probably overdid the paprika but after cooking put in the oven at gas 6 for an hour then left overnight. When I reheated it the next day it was delicious. Super generous portion for two (wouild probably feed three) and we ate with just small new potatoes. The consistency of the sauce was perfect, really rich and the flavours were fantastic. I will definately make this again!
