Ingredients

  • half an onion chopped
  • approx 1 oz butter
  • 2 teacups bamati rice (tilda works well)
  • 3 and a half teacups boiling water
  • half a tsp salt
  • stock cube (veg works well)
  • (medium ovenable frying pan with lid if not use foil)
  • Pre-heat the oven to gas 4

Method

  • STEP 1
    Fry the onions in the pan with the butter until clear and soft.
  • STEP 2
    Stir in the rice.
  • STEP 3
    Add the water, salt and crumble in the stockcube.
  • STEP 4
    Do not over stir or the rice will release starch and it will become sticky.
  • STEP 5
    Cover and put in the oven for 20 mins.
