Method

  1. In a large frying pan, heat the olive oil. Add the garlic and chilli flakes. Cook until just pale golden, then add the tomatoes. Cook 3 mins more on a high heat until the tomatoes start to break down a little. Add the lemon juice and cook for 1-2 mins. Remove from the heat and stir in the crab to warm through – not too much or it will break up.

  2. Boil the pasta in a large pan of salted water following pack instructions then drain. Mix the pasta in the warm pot with the sauce, lemon zest and capers, and toss the basil through.

Didn't like it at all - very bland, with a mushy consistency.

Sorry, but I found this to be a little bland. I made the full amount of sauce for 2 of us and it was just the right amount, not sure that it would be enough for 3. I don't think I'll make this again.

One word...YAMMEE! As per the other reviews, I omitted the lemon zest, only used one can of crab meat , added some prawns and it turned out delicious. I'll definitely make this again - soooo delicious.

Delicious! Followed the recipe other than I used prawns instead as I'm not too keen on crab. Perfect for a light and tasty summery lunch.

Made this tonight for the first time and wasn't disappointed, lovely quick and fresh quick tea! The zesty lemon went really well with the basil and crab.

Made this tonight with tomatoes, lemon, and basil from our garden. It was absolutely fabulous. I can only think that the reviewer who found it lacking in flavour used less than excellent ingredients, which might have muted flavour, or forgot the red chill flakes. I had not read the comments before making it, but did use only half the specified lemon juice, as it just seemed intuitively to be too much. I did use all the zest, which is a subtly different flavour.

Just not enough flavour for me :( Loved the use of the crab, garlic, noodles and tomatoes together... but just no flavour - even with lots of added pepper and a lot more basil leaves. It was edible and okay, but nothing special - not something I'd make again. It is healthy though - and that's the bonus star. Used whole wheat spaghetti to make it even healthier.

It was one of those nights... late home from work, weather is pants and you can't be bothered with anything. The tempatation was there to just order a take out, but NO!!! Had a quick look in the fridge and cupboard and found that I had everything needed for this dish. I am so glad I did. It was quicker than ordering the take out and very scrummy :-)

I love this recipe. Second and third time round I used fresh white crab meat and added some prawns. Also I used this thinner spaghetti which made it more about the sauce, so even lighter and tastier.

Lovely fresh flavours, I added a large pinch of chilli as like things with some heat. Went down fantastically with the other half and was so easy to make after a day at work and was very light but filling. Would definitely recommend
