What's in season: June
Apricots
These velvety skinned fruit are bursting with sweet, fragrant flesh that you can eat on the go as they're not too juicy, or bake into a summery tart. Always choose ripe fruit with a rich colour and unwrinkled skin.
-
Gooseberries
A distant cousin of the blackcurrant, gooseberries come in shades of green right through to rich, deep red. They work well in tarts, jams, jellies or as a fool.
-
Broad beans
If you've a glut in your garden or allotment, make the most of tender broad beans in a mash or purée. They're right at the start of their two month peak in June.
