Chewy on the outside and soft on the inside - these are a doddle to make!

Ingredients

  • 100g of sugar
  • 100g of butter
  • 1 tbsp of golden syrup
  • 75g of self raising flour
  • Cookie extras (i.e. chocolate chips)
  • Another 75g of self raising flour

Method

    1. Pre-heat the oven to 180 degrees. Mix the sugar and butter together to make a paste.
    2. Add the golden syrup.
    3. Add the first 75g of flour and whatever you are adding to your cookies (i.e. chocolate chips). Mix together.
    4. Add and mix the last 75g of flour.
    5. Arrange on a baking tray in 10-12 blobs, don't flatten them.
    6. Put them in the oven at 180 degrees for 12-15 minutes.

Very Nice and adaptable! Used honey instead of golden syrup and worked well. However the end result is too sweet for my liking so next time I will try it with a lot less sugar or just use nuts instead of (sweet) chocolate.

Brilliant recipe - I'd been looking for a decent cookie recipe for a while, only downside is that I've been eating way too many of these now..

I was surprised how yummy these turned out! Overbaked my first batch (had the fan of the oven on, will have to try without the fan or cut down on the baking time) but am looking forward to trying again! Thanks for the great recipe!

When you use the fan oven, reduce the oven temperature by 20 degrees Celsius- that should stop you from overbaking them!

just made these in 20 mins flat - really easy to make and exactly how cookies should be - crispy on the outside and soft and chewy in the middle - yummy

Brilliant recipe. I've found better cookie recipes but they all take much more work than these do and the results aren't that much better. These were great cookies with minimal effort. I'm temped to stick to this recipe in future.

I've now made a couple of batches, one with honeycomb & toffee pieces and another with milk & white chocolate pieces, both batches were perfect and so easy to make.
