Traditional greek lamb kleftiko made easy with the help of your slow cooker. Delicious and melt in the mouth.

  • 500g boneless lamb, cubed
  • 2 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 4 med potatoes
  • 2 onions, chopped
  • 3 cloves of garlic finely chopped
  • 4 medium tomatoes, sliced
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 3 bay leaves
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 100g feta cheese, crumbled


    1. Heat 1 tablespoon of the oil in a frying pan and brown the lamb on all sides. Place in the slow cooker.
    2. Wash and slice the potatoes and tomatoes, and add to the slow cooker.
    3. Peel and chop the onions and garlic and add to the cooker with the remaining oil, lemon juice, bay leaves and oregano.
    4. Season with the salt and pepper to desired amount and cook on the low setting for at least 6 hours.
    5. In the final 30-60 minutes add the crumble feta and stir.

this was so good! i was quite nervous about trying it as it was my real first slow cook recipe but it was really lovely! Thanks so much

I forgot to mention I used a leg of lamb on the bone and removed the meat from the bone when it was falling apart and melt in the mouth perfect!

Absolutely delicious! I didn't need to add any stock - the juice from lemon and lamb was more than enough. I added a tsp of cinnamon which worked well and I also added the squeezed out lemon halves for about four hours then removed them- it added a bit of extra lemon zing. Will definitely use this recipe again! Thank you!!

This recipe needs more ffeta and lemon. Other recipes for kleftiko contain cinammon, so I think I might stick some of that in next time too. It was nice, but needed a bit of a boost.

I did this for some friends who came over for dinner. Massive success first time trying it and worked a treat. I doubled the quantity of Lamb as there were more of us. Delish and made me very popular with my husband he loved it!!!

Hi, no stock is required. If it didn't work then think the slow cookers you have isn't very good. I do this recipe once a week as it is my partners favourite and the juice from the tomatoes and meat juice is sufficient stock :)

Tried this but the recipe doesn't work. Left it in the slow cooker for much longer than the 6 hours advised but there is not enough liquid to cook potatoes and tomatoes. Rather disappointed. Think Kerry (above) is right to ask if stock is required.

this recipe is absolutely delicious!! This is just as good as i have eaten in Greece. Highly recommended.
