Ninja Food Processor with Auto-IQ BN650UK summary

The Ninja BN650UK food processor is the brand’s budget model. Unlike some of the other Ninja food processors we’ve tested, this model is designed to simply chop, slice, knead and grate only.

It’s compactly designed, but has a generous 2.1L working capacity. There are four Auto-IQ settings: chop, puree, slice and mix, plus manual settings: low, high and pulse.

How easy is the Ninja Food Processor with Auto-IQ BN650UK to use?

The first thing we noticed about this food processor after setting it up was just how compact it is. The base is slim and doesn't extend further than the width of the main bowl, meaning it really won’t take up too much space on the counter.

The control panel is well-labelled with clear and easy-to-read text. And the buttons are very responsive. We like the flat control panel as there is no risk of ingredients falling into gaps - the lack of physical buttons means it’s easy to keep clean.

We were impressed by how robust the main bowl is. Despite being made from plastic, it is distinctly sturdy. The bowl is easy to align and fit into place, as is the lid, but it’s worth noting that both elements need to be rather forcefully locked into place to ensure the food processor runs. Left handed users should also be aware that the handle sits on the right, unfortunately this cannot be changed, so lefties may find this model a little cumbersome.

After use, we found this model very easy to clean. There aren’t any dirt traps or gaps for water to get stuck in. And for added convenience, everything is dishwasher safe.

Results

We sliced, chopped, kneaded and grated our way through a whole host of different ingredients to put this food processor to the test. Both our classic pesto and Thai green curry paste came together with ease. No elements were left unchopped and both the pesto and the curry paste were relatively smooth.

The Ninja powered through potatoes producing perfectly even slices and the grating disc made light work of our carrots, evenly grating them in a matter of seconds. We put the chopping blades to the test using onions, herbs and nuts. We were looking for finely diced onions, which, thanks to the easy to control speeds, we achieved. The uber sharp blades chopped parsley and basil with ease, leaving the herbs finely chopped rather than bruised. Using the pulse function we chopped walnuts, we looked for evenly chopped but still chunky bits of nut, ideal for a carrot cake. To see how fine the blades can chop, we also processed some day-old bread for breadcrumbs; this powerful model produced even and fine results.

To test the kneading blade we made a simple pasta dough. The blade brought the dough together with ease and despite nearly filling the bowl, this food processor remained stable on the countertop.

How sustainable is the Ninja Food Processor with Auto-IQ BN650UK?

Although the majority of the packaging is recyclable, some elements of this food processor came wrapped in plastic.

As we’ve seen with other Ninja products, spare parts are widely and easily available on the Ninja website. This is also detailed in the accompanying manual. The manual also includes information on how to recycle the food processor after use.

This model comes with a notably short one-year guarantee.

Conclusion

This Ninja food processor is the definition of value for money. It’s impressively powerful and we simply couldn’t fault its performance. This, coupled with its brilliant price tag, makes it a real steal.

If you’re after a simple food processor without the bells and whistles of some of the other models we’ve tested, this Ninja model is a must-buy.
