  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 400g beef strips, or steak cut into thin strips

  • 1 red chilli, deseeded and finely sliced
  • 2 tbsp oyster sauce
  • handful basil leaves


  1. Heat a wok or large frying pan until smoking hot. Pour in the oil and swirl around the pan, then tip in the beef strips and chilli. Cook, stirring all the time, until the meat is lightly browned, about 3 mins, then pour over the oyster sauce. Cook until heated through and the sauce coats the meat. stir in the basil leaves and serve with plain rice.

I can prepare and cook the stir-fry in the time it takes to boil the rice! Very Quick and Easy to make! Delicious. I also added sliced peppers to the stir-fry for additional veg/colour.

Surprisingly tasty for such a simple recipe. Will try using Sirloin next time as I'm sure that'll take it to a whole new level.

This is awesome. Sooooo easy to make and delicious. I did not deseed the chili so it was hot and spicy. I will do this definitely do this again. Absolutely brilliant.

Very quick and tasty even without the basil. I added a red pepper and some spring onions and it was an easy weekday meal.

Nice dish, very easy to make but not the best stir fry we've ever had and certainly not the best on this website. After reading the previous comments I added 4 tbsps of oyster sauce but still found that it was a little dry, perhaps it was because I also added some bok choi but felt that it needed a bit of veg. May make again but will have a good look on here first for other stir fry recipes!

I just tried this recipe again (loved it the 1st time round!) and I added to it a little by adding about 3 tbsps Oyster Sauce, 2 table spoons boiling water and a heap of curly Kale to the pan and took it off the heat until the Kale had wilted and softened a little. It was great! I would have used Pak Choi instead of the Kale but my local was out of stock. A good glass of orange juice before the meal ensures this is an iron packed meal!!!

Quick, easy and tasty! We add a green pepper and serve with jasmine rice. A firm favourite in our house.

This recipe is delicious! Made it a couple of times now. I decided to put a twist on the rice and it's tastes even yummier. But definitely agree with all the comments about adding extra sauce, also I use corriander instead of basil. I cooked the rice in coconut milk with some thai 7 spice!! YUM!
