  • 1 red chilli, deseeded and finely sliced
  • 2 tbsp oyster sauce
  • handful basil leaves

  1. Heat a wok or large frying pan until smoking hot. Pour in the oil and swirl around the pan, then tip in the beef strips and chilli. Cook until heated through and the sauce coats the meat. stir in the basil leaves and serve with plain rice.

Amazing recipe!!! Very quick, easy and tasty. I'm not a big fan of beef but this is great! I didn't have basil so added flaked almond and I love it!

Really tasty. I added spring onions, red pepper and mange tout and it just gave it that little bit extra.

This is a really great recipe. Added lots of spinach and some red peppers and soy sauce. Kept with lots of basil. Tastes very good for so little effort!

Really great really quick recipe! use a small chilli for more heat. I decided to augment the recipe with 2 teaspoons of sugar and one of rice wine, I also served it with some spinach! lovely! buy make sure you buy good quality beef mine started to stew with he amount of water which came out of it! it also ended up being dramatically less than the amount needed for the recipe.

Very tasty and easy to do. Without reading any of the other comments here, I made the decision to augment the recipe by adding in 1 birdseye chilli (with seeds), a handful of sping onions chopped, and for the sauce, to the recommended level of oyster, I added several healthy shakes of dark soy, and a lesser amount of Mirin for sweetness. Very nice - the heat was sharp and lingering but bearable, stayed on the lips but if the calories count is to be believed not on the hips!

Made this on Thursday. Super quick and easy. Could not believe how much flavour from so little ingredients. Oyster sauce will be in all my stirfrys in future. Will leave the seeds in the chilli next time as I think it needed more heat.

very good recipe easy and simple, and really full of flavor - i used veal thin slices and cut them into strips - i served it with teriyaki sauce so not too dry with rice

Found this strangely disappointing. Nice ingredients but not much flavour. Chose it because I needed something quick to make (which it is).

Thought it was simple and nice enough. Will make more sauce and add more chillies next time. Stars not working again 3/5

Wasn't too impressed with this - a bit plain - definitly needs veg adding.
